When my kids were toddlers, this happened: A grown man on my block once gave a nice gift to a young girl. The parents thought it seemed odd, and as they had never spoken to this man before, wondered how to address it. They may not have had the language, but they felt it was yellow light, and were trying to decide how to respond.
What they decided to do was, call the police. And it turned out that the man was a registered sex offender, and his action of giving this girl the gift was a violation of his parole. And he was returned to prison, and their daughter was protected.
