Neuropsychological Assessment

To help you more fully understand your child's strengths and needs and provide recommendations that lead to change.

I conduct comprehensive Neuropsychological Assessments to help you more fully understand your child's strengths and needs, and to provide recommendations that lead to change. I work closely with parents to define the specific questions to be answered. I strive to make the entire process a positive one for everyone, especially the child or teen, and my assessments are highly regarded for their clarity and helpfulness.

My goal is to discover what is underlying difficulties, and what can change to make things better. I strive to create a report that describes a whole person, and that emphasizes recommendations that lead to real change. Because I am also a therapist, and because I have worked within public schools as an IEP chairperson, I have relevant experience that allows me to write reports that are particularly useful.

My assessments are sought after by parents, schools, and physicians because I am able to skillfully integrate cognitive, social, learning, and emotional aspects of a person into a report that is meaningful for parents, therapists, physicians and schools. I use clear language, and stay focused on describing a person.

My Specialties

 

While I work with a broad range of needs, I have developed particular expertise in the diagnosis of:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)

  • Educational or Learning Disability (ADD, EFD, Dyslexia)

  • Intellectual giftedness

  • Anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety disorder, OCD, separation anxiety,   social anxiety, performance anxiety)

  • Attachment issues strained parent-child relationship, foster care, and adoption

  • Mood disorders, including mood dysregulation, depression, and anxiety

Assessments

 

Assessments include an intake appointment for parent(s), two assessment sessions with the child/teen (usually one full day, with a 2 - 3 hour follow-up meeting), a feedback for parents only, and, when appropriate, a second feedback including the child/teen and a parent, and finally a written report. Every assessment is individualized to answer the specific questions of that assessment. I am open to participating in school meetings to share the results of the assessment.
